Petroleum Systems Modeling Workshop - Challenges of structurally complex basins

Workshop main areas of focus
-    Identification of the most important processes in very complex geological systems
-    New approaches and numerical tools to model them
-    Game changing integrated workflows within basin modeling

Meeting format
The program of the workshop consists of the 4 following thematic sessions.
Each of which includes 5 oral presentations given by experts from the industry.
Posters will also be on display during the event. Time for discussions and debates will be provided.

“Geodynamics and basin modeling”, chaired by Claudius Vandré (Statoil) and Sascha Doering (ENI)
This session will address issues related to conditions prescribed at basin boundaries, including stress and displacement, thermicity and influx of allogenic compounds. Coupling models at geodynamic scale with petroleum system modeling will also be addressed.

“Towards coupling structural modelling, geomechanics and basin modeling”, chaired by Johannes Wendebourg (Total) and Marie-Christine Cacas-Stentz(IFPEN)
This theme addresses issues related to structural modeling of tectonically complex basins for Petroleum System Modeling purposes: what processes are involved, what is the technological state of the art of restoration and its integration in the Petroleum System Modeling?

“Integration of Geopressure, Geomechanics and Seismic”, chaired by Marek Kacewicz (Chevron) and Fadi Henri Nader (IFPEN)
This theme addresses issues related to Petroleum System Modeling, focusing on complex fault-controlled fluid flow, rock compaction, over-pressure build-up and subsequent fracturing. How to integrate constrains from seismic data and geomechanical modeling will also be addressed.

“Integrated BM workflows, uncertainties and quality control”, chaired by Pierre van Laer (Adnoc) and André Vayssaire (Repsol)
This theme will focus on case studies and new integrated modeling workflows. Special attention will be paid to innovative  workflows dedicated to complex environments, as well as sources and propagation of uncertainties and quality check. Knowledge brought by case studies on migration pathways and cap rock integrity will be also pointed out.
 

Presentations of case studies and new modeling workflows will be welcome. The case studies will be dispatched in the sessions according to the addressed topic.
